Robert Burton Guthrie was born on February 8, 1936, in Wyandotte, Michigan. He was one son born from the union of Robert Adam Guthrie and Allouez Irene (Ridley) Guthrie. Robert graduated from Allen Park High School in 1954 before embarking on a successful career in computer technology. His passion for computers spanned over four decades, helping various companies adapt and thrive in the evolving digital era.

In addition to his professional pursuits, Robert dedicated thirty-five years of selfless service to the Roseville Police Department Reserves. He enjoyed the camaraderie provided by law enforcement and his personal efforts not only strengthened the reserve forces but also promoted a sense of safety and trust within the community.

Robert had many varied interests and expertise.  These broadened interests extended to his enduring love for automobiles, spending countless hours in his garage tinkering with cars.

Robert Burton Guthrie, age 88, of Roseville, peacefully passed away at Elderly Solutions under the care of Elara Hospice on Saturday; April 27, 2024, at 8:25am. He had been in rapidly declining health since March. His passing was preceded by his parents; his first wife: Carole M. (Schultise) Guthrie; his second wife: Eleanor M. (Dueweke) Guthrie; a sister: Margaret Klang and his rescue companion "Brandi" who passed in January of 2020.

To cherish his memory, he leaves his three children: Brian K Guthrie of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Mark D. (Marna Nemon) Guthrie of Clarkston, Michigan, and Michelle D. (Brad Dreier) Guthrie of Erie, Michigan. He is also survived by his grandsons Guilford "Gil" N. (Meagan) Guthrie of Ludlow, Kentucky, and Garrett "Gus" N. (Abby) Guthrie of Lansing, Michigan and his loving companion of many years: Lynda Wilbert of Clyde, Ohio. 

Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162 (734) 384-5185 was entrusted with his care. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place through Covenant Cremation of Erie, Michigan, a division of Merkle Enterprises, Inc. A private graveside service will take place at a later date at Michigan Memorial Cemetery.
